Google Pixel 10 Pro XL Color Option, Release Date, Price

Introduction

The Pixel 10 Pro XL is set to launch officially on August 20th, but Google unexpectedly revealed its entire design a month early. The official teaser shows a design very similar to the previous model, possibly in a new Moonstone color. Hands-on photos confirm a 99% similar design to the Pixel 9 Pro, with only subtle changes like the SIM card tray moving, an extra mic/speaker cutout, and a slightly thinner camera ring.

Google Pixel Color Options

Both the Pixel 10 Pro and XL will be available in four colors: Obsidian, Porcelain, Moonstone, and Jade. Moonstone is highlighted as the hero color for advertisements.

The Pixel 10 lineup will introduce ‘Magic Q,’ an advanced version of Pixel Sense. This AI anticipates user actions, such as automatically surfacing Google Maps links when discussing restaurants or pulling flight details from Gmail. It aims to eliminate minor daily tasks and make smartphones feel smarter. Google states that data processed by Magic Q will reside in a secure, isolated area for privacy.

Google has doubled the PWM refresh rate to 480Hz, which is beneficial for reducing eye strain during night-time scrolling. While still behind some Chinese phone manufacturers, this improvement puts it on par with Apple and Samsung.

Google Pixel Battery & Storage

The Pixel 10 Pro XL features a 5200mAh battery, making it the largest in a Pixel device and the second largest among US flagships. The XL model now starts at 256GB storage, going up to 1TB, eliminating the 128GB option. This starting storage increase implies a ‘sneaky price hike’ as the starting price remains similar to last year’s 256GB model. The regular 10 Pro, however, still starts at 128GB, which is criticized as being outdated for 2025.

Google Pixel Charging Capacity

The new Pro models support Qi2 wireless charging, enabling magnetic charging, though it’s unclear if this is via built-in magnets or requires a special case. Wired charging speeds have increased from 37W to 39W, and wireless charging speeds have bumped from 23W to approximately 26W. While not ‘game-changing,’ these are technical speed improvements.

Google Pixel Software and Version

The Pixel 10 lineup will be powered by the new Tensor G5 chip, notably the first Tensor chip to be built using TSMC’s manufacturing process instead of Samsung’s. TSMC chips are known for better power efficiency and heat management. Early benchmarks show a decent performance jump from previous Tensor chips, though it still lags behind Qualcomm and Samsung’s Exynos. Google’s strategy continues to focus on software optimization to enhance user experience despite hardware limitations.
